Character of this travel idea
Your personalised Provence tour takes you to the region’s most important towns and sights over 12 days. In the natural parks and villages of Provence, you will feel the unique lifestyle of the south of France particularly intensely. With stops in Nice and Toulon, our route then takes you to the Côte d’Azur, a hotspot for the international jet set, with its glamorous coastal resorts and azure blue sea.
Experience culture
Aix-en-Provence, the city of art and culture, impresses with its magnificent baroque buildings and the Cathedral of Saint-Sauveur. Stroll through the elegant streets and discover the works of Paul Cézanne, who was born here.
With its Roman ruins and impressive amphitheatre, Arles was an inspiration for Vincent van Gogh. The Fondation Vincent van Gogh is dedicated entirely to the life and work of the artist, who created some of his most famous paintings here. The city also has many other museums dedicated to art.
The Camargue, known for its wild horses and flamingos, which is also home to the impressive Château d’Avignon and the Musée de la Camargue, awaits you in the south. Here you can embark on a journey through the history and culture of the region, which is lavishly documented in the museum.
Experience nature in the Provence
The nature of southern France is a true paradise and impresses with its breathtaking diversity. Discover the typical red ochre cliffs and picturesque villages in the Luberon Nature Park, which are among the most beautiful in Provence, ideally on a hike or bike tour. Manosque and its surroundings will welcome you with fragrant fields of lavender and olive groves, the sight of which will captivate you with the magic of Provence.
Birdwatchers should take a particularly good look around the wetlands and salt lakes of the Camargue. Many exotic species can be found in this nature reserve. The Calanques, located between Marseille and Cassis, offer impressive rock formations, crystal-clear water and hidden bays – ideal for hiking, swimming and kayaking.
Culinary treasures of the Provence
Provence offers an incomparable culinary diversity that will make your round trip a real treat. In Aix-en-Provence, you can enjoy the traditional calissons, a delicious almond confectionery that has been prized since the 15th century. Arles delights with its rustic cuisine, where dishes such as Gardianne de Taureau, a hearty beef stew, are on the menu.
In the region around the Calanques, between Marseille and Cassis, fish lovers get their money’s worth. Here you can try the famous bouillabaisse, a rich fish soup made with fresh seafood. In the Camargue, you can expect a unique blend of Mediterranean and Provençal flavours, with black rice and local seafood being particular highlights. Cheese and truffle lovers will find what they are looking for at the small markets in the Luberon Nature Park.
The authentic Provence
A wine tasting in the vineyards around Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon Nature Park offers you the opportunity to savour the region’s exquisite rosé and red wines. A real firework display for your taste buds!
The lavender fields of Provence are a pure delight for the eyes and nose. The flowering season begins in mid-June and lasts well into August. Visit one of the region’s lavender harvest festivals and learn more about the production of lavender products.
