Individual tours
Portugal mainland 2025
“Portugal never ceases to amaze me with its mix of the wild Atlantic Ocean, lively cultural and city life and villages where time seems to stand still. Just a few kilometres from the tourist hotspots, you will find places in the hinterland where you can experience traditional Portugal. Here, people still live in stone houses that have hardly changed since the 19th century.
In these villages – but also in the metropolises – it’s the leisurely pace of everyday life and the laid-back friendliness of the people that fascinate me. I would like to share my enthusiasm for this small country on the edge of Europe with you – for example with the following tour of Portugal, which can be customised to suit your interests.
Of course, your journey to Portugal can also start right on your doorstep. When travelling by your own car, we also plan and organise the route and accommodation for your individual trip through the transit countries according to your wishes.

Cultural Portugal
Portugal’s unique cultural heritage is characterised by a history that goes back thousands of years – by a meeting of numerous peoples who settled here and by influences that the Portuguese brought to the country during their voyages of discovery.
The Azulejos – the blue and white painted tiles introduced by the Moors – adorn the exteriors and interiors of numerous houses, churches and palaces. The art of the seafaring nation is closely linked to the sea. This is particularly evident in the Manueline style, named after King Dom Manuel I, in which anchors, shells, chains, ribbons and other maritime ornaments transformed into stone abound. The most famous examples can be admired in the Batalha Monastery, the Torre de Belém and the Hieronymus Monastery in Lisbon and the Convento de Cristo in Tomar.
Your round trip through Portugal, past small villages with folk architecture and traditional arts and crafts and the fateful fado singing form a successful contrast to this.

Experience nature in Portugal
It’s narrow – the country. And long, with around 1800 km of coastline. Within a small territory, Portugal combines varied and contrasting landscapes with an equally diverse flora and fauna.
Discover imposing mountains with impressive gorges and thundering waterfalls in the north, lovely cultural landscapes characterised by wine-growing in the Douro Valley on your round trip through Portugal, sandy and rocky coasts in the Algarve, the dune and mudflat landscapes in the Ria Formosa National Park or the rough coastal stretches on the western Atlantic coast.
Whether you are looking for peace and quiet in nature, want to hike or be active… There is something for every taste.

Portugal culinary delights
Portugal’s cuisine is as varied as its landscapes. This is particularly evident in the Portuguese national dish bacalhau, for which there is a recipe for every day of the year, as the saying goes. In addition to a large selection of fish and seafood dishes meat dishes of pork, veal or kid, soups and stews also play a major role, especially in the interior.
More and more restaurants are focussing on modern and innovative cuisine based on traditional recipes using the finest olive oil and local ingredients. Of course, a good wine should not be missing here. In addition to the famous port wine, the wines of the Douro and the Alentejo are particularly worth tasting.
Like the Spanish, the Portuguese also have their appetisers, the petiscos. In addition to cheese and barnacles, bolinhos de bacalhau or dumplings with various fillings are among the small appetisers. But the Portuguese also like it sweet. The pastéis de nata, originally from Lisbon, are particularly popular, as are the ovos moles typical of Aveiro – little calorie bombs but definitely worth to taste.

Special experiences in Portugal
Of course, you can also book guided tours through the most famous cities and culturally significant sites on our Portugal tours. However, our programme goes far beyond this, because we want you to get to know and understand the country and its people better. That’s why we offer experiences that give you a glimpse behind the scenes behind the scenes.
Wine, sherry, cheese and olive oil tastings as well as culinary workshops give you an insight into the specialities of Portuguese cuisine. Let the yearning sounds of fado take effect on you and experience the diverse nature of Portugal on boat trips, e.g. on the Douro or on a trip in a traditional Moliceiro boat.
Do you prefer an active holiday? Then you can experience the breathtaking nature up close on hikes.
