Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of this travel idea
Experience culture
The cultural heart of Croatia beats in Zagreb: there are 19 theatres, 24 museums and 654 galleries here. Behind these bare numbers lie unique and extraordinary impressions. Perhaps you will discover historic cars and boats in the Nicola Tesla Museum of Technology, as well as some curious machines.
Or perhaps the Museum of Illusions will turn your head – and your perception. You don’t even have to enter a gallery to enjoy the magical play of lights in the Art Park, where art installations, garden art and socialising come together. For architecture lovers, Opatija is almost a living museum.
As you stroll through the city, you can revel in the beauty of the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles, admire the intricate details of the Secession style and the clear structures of Classicism. That’s not enough for you? Then take a detour to Pula in your hire car on this individual 15-day round trip and marvel at the architecture of the Romans, whose amphitheatre is still a popular venue for concerts today.
Experience nature
Did you know that Croatia is home to a fairy-like paradise? At the crystal-clear Plitvice Lakes, the water rushes over lush, grey rock from one lake basin to the next. The oldest national park in Croatia is perhaps also the most beautiful. When you leave your hire car behind at the car park, you enter another world on the wooden paths: a world between lakes, forest and mountains, where everyday life is far away.
On this 15-day round trip through Croatia, you will also find a landscape for the senses on one of the more than 1,000 islands, Lošinj. Holm oaks, laurel and fragrant pine trees line the paths as you climb up to Televrina. With wild oleander, orange trees and even palm trees, this wonderful island even exudes a little exoticism. Once you reach the top, the panorama of Kvarner Bay invites you to dream.
Croatia culinary treasures
No question: Croatian cuisine is meat-heavy and not very delicate. Rustic, traditional recipes still characterise the everyday lives of many families and restaurant menus. Meat, vegetables, potatoes, olive oil and herbs are on the menu. Only on the coast are fish and seafood common. Sounds a bit too simple? But it tastes great.
Croatians particularly love dishes from the peka: the ingredients simmer for several hours in this cast-iron pot. Take a look at the lid and let yourself be seduced by the aroma – and the butter-tender meat.
The authentic Croatia
Croatia’s seafood cuisine is a simple yet incomparable delight. You can have it served to you – or cook it yourself. Stroll through the markets of Split with a professional chef. Savour, taste and observe. With your findings, you will then stand at the cooker yourself and, under expert guidance, conjure up an aromatic 3-course menu based on local recipes with fish, seafood and typical spices.
Afterwards you can enjoy the result at the table with a delicious Croatian wine. Of course, the master will not only guide you. On this stage of your personalised 15-day tour, you will also learn more about the maritime cuisine of Croatia and many a trick that you can use to inspire your guests at home with Croatian cuisine.
