Geotoura - Hotel concept

When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.

We categorise our accommodation in the British Isles into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.

Boutique Hotels - Four categories

Encantador (‘Charming’): Privately run bed & breakfast guesthouses with a small number of cosy rooms and a lovingly prepared breakfast.

Especial (‘Special’): Enjoy stylish interiors and comfort in the mostly family-run boutique hotels with historic charm. Stay in the city centre or in beautiful natural surroundings.

Extraordinario (‘Extraordinary’): Centuries-old buildings, such as historic manor houses or castles, sometimes also modern design hotels with special architecture. Usually equipped with a restaurant, bar or spa area.

Luna de Miel (‘honeymoon’): For your honeymoon – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …

Character of this travel idea

Would you like to discover the most beautiful landscapes on the west coast of Ireland on your own in a hire car? Then this individual 8-day round trip through the west will take you to the original Ireland in a region where there are more sheep than people. Feel the raw power of the sea, listen to the gentle song of the wind and let yourself be touched by the mystical power of solitude.

Experience culture

Red brick walls, colourful doors in white frames and ivy creeping up many a wall … The Georgian era has given Dublin’s old town many charming details that are at least as interesting as the imposing town hall from this era. The Temple Bar district, on the other hand, is more colourful.

Authentic Dublin is at home in the winding alleyways and you are right in the centre of it all: cheerful street music can be heard around the corners of the houses, the pubs and cafés emit a cheerful babble of voices and in the evenings you can hear some hearty folk music.

Between tradition and modernity, your hire car on this individual tour will also take you to the lively student city of Galway with its charming bookshops and tiny, very personal galleries. In this hustle and bustle, you almost overlook the small house with the mouse-grey façade and the bright blue door, behind which you can trace James Joyce and his muse Nora Barnacle.

Experience nature

The journey in a hire car on the sometimes narrow and winding panoramic road is a bit of an adventure. In return, the Ring of Kerry opens up the photo album of a postcard Ireland for you. Nowhere else on your individual 8-day round trip through Ireland will you find so many facets of the island to dream about as on this route.

It takes you to the rugged cliffs of majestic cliffs, against which the waves of the wild ocean beat furiously. But it also shows you hidden beaches where this force of water suddenly rushes over the beach with a murmur, and takes you along lush green mountain slopes up to impressive mountain passes with unrivalled views.

In the middle of it all, you will discover many a prehistoric site and medieval ruins. So why not pull over in your hire car and linger in a landscape that has established Ireland’s reputation as a destination of longing for nature lovers.

Ireland culinary treasures

Ireland’s cuisine is often seen in the tradition of poor people’s food. During your visit to Ireland, you will discover that this down-to-earth tradition can be very tasty and not at all poor. In addition to the famous Irish stew, it is mainly fish and seafood that has been tantalising the palate in recent times. Smoked wild salmon, oysters and lobster will win over even gourmets. Meat lovers can look forward to fine lamb and tender Angus beef. “Back to the roots, on the other hand, with soda bread, porridge, boxty, coddle and black pudding.

The authentic Ireland

Irish pubs are famous for their hospitality and quaint, friendly atmosphere. Immerse yourself in a quintessentially Irish evening in the Merry Ploughboy Pub on your 8-day tour of Ireland in Dublin. Toast with a hearty Guinness and let the lively music and exuberant dancers infect you with the typical cheerfulness of the islanders.

My wife and I celebrated our golden wedding anniversary during our trip to Ireland. Geotoura had organised for a bottle of prosecco, strawberries, cake and wine to be waiting for us in our hotel room. We were very pleased with this.

Ireland is worth a visit. You can see a stunning landscape and visit some excellently designed gardens, such as those at Lismore Castle. The people are friendly and helpful, and they are happy to make contact. It is a ‘young’ country. The pubs and the local culture alone are worth a visit. Dublin is a vibrant and very lively city that has a lot to offer: culture of all kinds, and above all many museums.

I would like to thank Geotoura for the fantastic tour of the Peloponnese. I felt well looked after from start to finish, all my individual requests for the route were addressed and the tips on the route were great. The accompanying material - the personalised travel guide - was great. And everything worked out perfectly on site. The accommodation ranged from great to fantastic and the people there were super friendly and welcoming. The mix of sea and culture was just right. I'd be happy to go again and again, I'm already looking forward to my next trip with Geotoura.
