Geotoura – Hotel concept

When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.

We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.

Boutique Hotels – Four categories

Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.

Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.

Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.

Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …

Character of this travel idea

Exciting metropolises and typical Mediterranean landscapes await you on this 13-day trip through southern Italy. Immerse yourself in colourful fireworks of grandiose architecture, trend-setting architecture and a warm, friendly region with open and cordial people.

Experience culture

In the year 79, life in Pompeii turned to stone. Metres of ash buried the flourishing city beneath it. An unrivalled tragedy for the inhabitants. For today’s visitors, it is an unrivalled window into the past.

On your journey through the south of Italy, your route will take you from Naples along the Amalfi Coast to a city that still takes your breath away today. Fantastic murals in vibrant colours, artistic mosaics, a richly decorated chariot, the walls of houses, taverns and workshops. In between, figures that only appear to be made of stone. Under the skin of solidified ash are actually dogs, horses and people. Walking through the streets and looking into the houses gives some people goose bumps.

However you experience Pompeii, this city will definitely not leave you cold. You will get goosebumps of a different kind in the cave city of Matera. Here you will wander through streets and alleyways that were used by the inhabitants of the time to hurry from cave to cave around 5,000 years ago. The nested dwellings tell you a lot about the people who lived here.

Experience nature

“When the red sun sinks into the sea at Capri …” Do you have the song in your ear and the wonderful island in front of your eyes? Here, the colours of the houses shine a little more intensely, the green is a little greener and the sea a little clearer. Capri is a feast for the eyes, greeted by the imposing rock formations rising steeply out of the water.

When you turn your back on the island and arrive in Alberobello, you may wonder why this corner of the world has not been so fervently sung about. The grey conical roofs of the round, white trulli duck into a lush green, Mediterranean and almost tropical landscape with its palm trees. It is definitely worth taking a break from the dream beaches in Bari and Monopoli and heading inland on your journey through southern Italy in a hire car.

Amalfi Coast – savour the culinary delights

The Amalfi Coast is also a delight for the palate. Thanks to its location between the sea and the mountains and its numerous vegetable gardens, it has a varied and very flavoursome cuisine. Fresh fish and ‘frutti di mare’ are of course at the top of the menu, but each place has its own recipe, so it never gets boring. But the cuisine has much more to offer. Pasta varieties such as ‘scialatielli’ or ‘ndunderi’ are typical of the Amalfi Coast, as are the caciocavalli cheese, smoked provole and ricotta.

A good wine, a limoncello or a typical dessert such as ‘Delizia al Limone’ will also make your tour of the Amalfi Coast a culinary experience.

The authentic Southern Italy

What’s the advantage of travelling individually? Exactly! You can get to know the country and its people from a completely new and authentic perspective. In Naples, there is probably no better way to do this than by baking a pizza. Pizza Neapolitana is not considered a world cultural heritage for nothing. Learn how to make the crispy thin dough, what exactly goes on the Neapolitana and how to bake it to perfection from a local pizza chef, who will tell you many an anecdote about this pizza while kneading the dough.

The trip along the Amalfi Coast was wonderful. We felt very comfortable in all the hotels that Geotoura booked for us. They were all very nice hotels. Extraordinary but very beautiful. We will definitely plan our next trip with Geotoura.

The trip was organised about 2 weeks before departure. The itinerary (car + hotels) was nevertheless very well adapted to our challenging wishes, making the wonderful holiday on the Amalfi Coast possible. The on-site support is also a big plus.

Thanks to Geotoura, we had a wonderful time in Apulia. Our wishes for small hotels were catered for, all the accommodation was close to the centre and quiet and offered an individual flair. The suggestions for changes to our round trip turned out to be very good, and the detailed descriptions in the personal travel guide enabled us to plan our days well. This was the most relaxed holiday preparation for an individual trip we have ever had and we can recommend Geotoura with a clear conscience. Everything was one hundred per cent perfect. Many thanks for that!

I would like to thank the Geotoura team for their advice and support during our trip to Sicily. The travel information provided was very helpful and the hotels we booked all met our requirements in terms of location and facilities. The Organic Farm Resort Fontes Episcopi will remain a special memory for us. We were particularly well looked after and spoilt with culinary delights. The location and facilities of the former country house are unique. The hire car was big enough for our group (6 people) so that we could travel comfortably with our luggage.

The surprise trip for my husband's 60th birthday went really well. The hotels in Noto and Agrigento were wonderful! Sicily has a lot to offer and we will definitely be travelling to the island again to explore the rest of the island. The beaches were fantastic and the sea was still warm enough. The area around Taormina was too touristy for us but it was still a fantastic holiday!!! Thank you for the great organisation.

We had an all-round wonderful holiday in Sardinia. Everything was superbly organised, the island was beautiful and the hotels were exceptional. This was our 4th time travelling with Geotoura and certainly not the last. We are already looking forward to our next holiday, probably to Andalusia again.

The trip was simply wonderful, well organised and all the wishes we had were taken into account, supplemented with suggestions and alternatives where necessary. What we wanted to experience on our first trip to Greece/Crete was surpassed in every case and it certainly wasn't the last time we were there. It was not a prefabricated scheme that was worked through, but you are, if you want it that way, very individually on the road to get to know the country and its people. We not only enjoyed the trip, but also the organisation by the friendly Geotoura team.

All the hotels recommended to us by Geotoura were excellent. The hotel complexes in Syracuse and Agrigento were so beautiful that we almost didn't want to leave them. The car hire company we booked was efficient and the car was almost new. A query with Geotoura was dealt with immediately, even at the weekend. We would be happy to use Geotoura again next time.

That was my first organised round trip. The destination was Sicily. Geotoura chose a great selection of cities and hotels for me. Each hotel had its own charm. I would always use Geotoura again to plan a trip.
