Geotoura – Hotel concept
When we include a hotel in our programme, it is not only a high standard of quality that is important to us. We prefer typical local accommodation, often boutique hotels with a special ambience. They emphasise the character of an individual trip: Panoramic views, particularly lovely furnishings, a location in historic centres, no mass tourism and, of course, exceptionally friendly hosts – these are important criteria for us.
We divide our hotels into four separate Geotoura categories. Of course, you have the choice and can also combine the categories on one trip.
Boutique Hotels – Four categories
Encantador (“Charming”): Our most affordable option. Lovingly furnished rooms that offer everything the discerning traveller expects.
Especial (“Special”): Hotels with a special ambience – historic palaces, monasteries, haciendas or beach hotels with exceptional charm. Perfect for the classic cultural tour.
Extraordinario (“Extraordinary”): Luxurious hotels in excellent locations and with the highest level of comfort, often in centuries-old aristocratic palaces, old oil mills or haciendas.
Luna de Miel (“honeymoon”): For the honeymoon – span. Luna de miel – or if you want to treat yourself to something out of the ordinary …
Character of
Experience culture
Welcome to Barcelona, the city of Antoni Gaudí, who created numerous elements and buildings here. Probably the most famous is the Sagrada Familia, which towers over the neighbourhood with its slender towers. Park Güell is not as high up, which is why you can get even closer to Gaudí’s works here.
Back in the city from the countryside, you will encounter the master at Casa Milá and Casa Batlló, among other places. From the unusual shapes and colours of Modernisme, turn back the clock a little. This is when you reach Montserrat with its breathtaking mountain backdrop on your 15-day tour of Northern Spain.
The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao brings you back to the present with its countless modern works of art, from paintings to installations. This individual tour is a special treat between past and present for lovers of great art and architecture.
Experience nature
Did you know that there is a wonderful mountain paradise just a short drive from Bilbao? A paradise with rushing waterfalls, magical forests, clear lakes and vast meadows where sheep bleat in the silence of the countryside.
There are also around 500 caves yawning in the imposing cliffs. You can take a look inside some of them on your way through the mountains. On your 15-day round trip to Northern Spain , you will pass through another fantastically beautiful mountain landscape: the Cévennes National Park.
Bizarre rock formations in the karst rock, paths over historic bridges and through tiny, ancient villages in the middle of a grey-green mountain landscape may tempt you to linger a little longer out here in the middle of the wild nature of southern France.
Northern Spain - a culinary delight
The Atlantic offers an immense variety of sea creatures, so that the cuisine in the coastal regions of northern Spain is dominated by dishes based on fish and seafood. The rain-rich region provides lush green dairy pastures, so that northern Spain is also known as the home of the finest cheeses. These include the creamy Queso de Nata or the Queso de Cabrales from Asturias, a blue cheese made from goat’s or sheep’s milk. The delicately smoked Queso San Simón from Galicia, on the other hand, offers a completely different flavour experience.
Fresh vegetables, hearty stews, as well as lamb and game dishes, which you will find on the menu, especially in the interior of the country, will also make your Road trip through northern Spain a culinary experience. Savour the Sidra, poured in a thin stream from a great height into a glass. Wine connoisseurs are sure to enjoy the refreshing white wines, such as Txakolí or Montesierra, the Galician Albariño. The red wines from La Rioja are also wonderful accompaniments to a good meal.
This is ensured by several star chefs who have chosen San Sebastián as their culinary stronghold to demonstrate their culinary skills. Legend has it that a queimada – a Galician drink made from high-proof schnapps, sugar, coffee beans and lemon slices heated in a clay pot – is even said to keep witches away. Then nothing can really go wrong. By the way: the tapas of the north – the pintxos – are ideal for a snack in between meals.
The authentic Northern Spain
The north of Spain is known for its good wines and wonderful historic houses. Experience both when you visit the Bodega Señorío de Arínzano. Stroll through the vineyards, discover the secrets of the old winegrower’s house and taste the excellent wines in the picturesque setting of the winery, which has been awarded the highest classification level for Spanish wines – Vino de Pago.
